I have to admit, I'm feeling a bit unproductive right now. I figure if I start thinking about making up a list of New Year's Resolutions, I might actually get a little more done this year than I did in 2008.
I could make a huge list of all I want to do--lose weight, exercise more, get more organized at the day job--that sort of stuff, but I'd rather focus on my writing right now. In order to understand where I want to get to I need to review where I'm at.
Looking at all the work the other MSA authors have done, I have to say I'm falling behind. I mean, really--my very first book, Santa's Elf, came out just over a year ago on December 18, 2007. I was excited and nervous about Elf and Dayton's story and thrilled when readers started asking about some of the secondary characters.
My second book, Meeting A Neighbor's Needs was re-released on August 19, 2008.
And then--I fizzled out. I've been writing. I've been chatting. I've been trying to garner votes for my American Title V entry, then dealing with being eliminated in the first round of the competition. I've been working my day job, but I haven't been as productive as I would have liked to have been last year.
Now, I have a new year to look forward to. It is starting out well. The prequel to Santa's Elf will be released on January 20th. Diablo Blanco Club: Unfair Advantage is the story reader's have asked for--the story about Mattie Lawrence and Bryce Halsey. It's different from Santa's Elf and about 20,000 words longer.
As for the rest of the year... It remains to be seen what will happen with my writing. I do know that I have a novella done and submitted, a sequel to the novella is in the works, as well as another novella connected to the Diablo Blanco Club characters.
So, here is my 2009 Writing Resolution:
1. Complete the sequel to my M/M novella by January 31st.
2. Complete the OW/YM novella by February 28th.
3. Begin research on military romantic suspense by March 15th.
4. Save money for RT and RWA National conferences.
5. Outline and complete novella connected to flash fiction story "The Golden Delete Key"
6. Outline and complete novella connected to flash fiction story "Adding It Up"
Wow--I guess I'll have to get to work! I figure just these six items will keep me occupied until the summer. As I finish each item, I'll be adding new items to my list.
Okay--now you know my goals. What are some of yours? Please feel free to share with me and others what your New Year's Resolutions are. Good luck with your endeavors!

Most of my goals for the year are the normal ones. I'm a reader not a writer so none are writing related.
1. Get in better shape. One pants size maybe two.
2. Get more organized. Specifically my papers, DVDs(craft shows), and garage.
3. Refinish the kitchen cupboards.
4. Get rid of 3 pbs for ever 2 I buy. I've got about 5,000 books and they are taking over. I need to force myself to get rid of books I don't plan to re-read! Last year my goal was 2 books for every one and I fell a little short.
My goals are:
1. to get at least 5 things published in 2009 (I've already got 3 contracted but I am notorious for getting off track, sigh)
2. make time to read at least 2 books a week
3. work on my website
4. finish a couple of my stubborn WIPs that have been gathering dust for months
Whew! That sounds like a lot of work...
Great goals, all three of you! Qwillia, your year looks more productive to me than it might have felt to you, looks like you've got lots in the works!!
Kytaira - do you have a place you take your used books? (print, I'm presuming?) Lots of places are looking - shelters, libraries, charity booksales, they can do a lot of good!
Cassandra, how ever do you find that much time to read? Between my day job, the writing-editing-marketing merry go round and just trying to keep up with life in general, I can hardly ever sit down with someone else's book! Though I promise I'll make time for one of yours, always yummy!
